WITH THE WARMTH AND ATTENTION OF A FAMILY-RUN HOTEL, THE TORRIDON IS A FAVORITE SCOTTISH COUNTRYSIDE RETREAT WITH SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.
Outdoor pursuits are myriad, from clay pigeon shooting and archery to mountain biking at the foot of Liathach and kayaking in a magnificent sea loch. The estate is remote enough for true respite, yet offers contemporary creature comforts sophisticated travelers have come to expect, from 18 luxurious guest rooms with views of the ever-changing highland scenery (and even the estate’s own cattle!) to an award-winning Whisky Bar, now with 100 Scottish gins including their own distilled Arcturus gin. The Torridon Hotel is awarded five red stars from the AA, Cateys Independent Hotel of the Year 2018 and five Gold stars from Visit Scotland. The dining room is the recipient of 3 AA Rosettes and offers a menu of three and seven courses, all paired with the best vintages from a well-appointed wine list.

Cocktails with the proprietor – meet with Dan Rose-Bristow. Dan will be delighted to share his experiences of living in one of the great wild corners of Europe, with stunning mountains, beautiful sea lochs and scenic Highland villages.

Their Highland Beef, local cheeses, and even raspberries are second to none – and their seafood is so fresh and plump that the majority is exported to Spain! Enjoy a scrumptious burger with beef from their own Scottish Highland herd.
Take a scenic drive along Scotland’s own Route 66, the North Coast 500, which has gained global recognition. The most famous pass along the route is the Beallach Na Ba (pass of the Cattle) to Applecross. The views are incredible, including the whole of Skye, much of Wester Ross, the Islands of Rum, and the Outer Hebrides.
For that extra little treat – book the hotel’s own Morgan Sports Car to zip along this spectacular route.
The area surrounding The Torridon is amongst the clearest locations on Earth so you can experience rich views of the Milky Way and thousands of naked-eye stars. Experience the night sky in all its glory with a little stargazing excursion in the surrounding highlands.
Take advantage of The Torridon’s very own activities team, you can choose from activities, such as sea kayaking, open canoeing, gorge scrambling, mountain biking, coasteering, or guided walks. My favorite is an early morning kayaking adventure before the world wakes up.
