Brach Madrid
Designed to feel like a private home, Brach Madrid contains an infinite number of surprising, sentimental objects meant to demonstrate beauty, love, and affection. Philippe Starck magnificently restored the 1922, seven-story building on a site where Victor Hugo lived as a child, masterfully transforming it to exude modern nostalgia and the contrasting soul of Spain.
Set in the heart of the city, Brach Madrid is as ideal for a family holiday as it is for a romantic weekend. Each of the 57 rooms and suites is dreamlike, giving off a sense of intimacy with wood paneling, leather, pottery, and wickerwork adding to their softness and warmth. Suites, located on the fifth and sixth floors, are visions of wood, terracotta, leather, and earthenware, with shaded terraces overlooking Madrid.
Downstairs, as diners enter the Brach restaurant, it’s easy to imagine Salvador Dalí, Luis Buñuel, and Federico García Lorca sitting, conversing, and creating. The setting is that of a grand cafe of old, with eclectic paintings, a collection of beautiful objects, and an energetic, open kitchen serving Chef Adam Bentalha’s vibrant Mediterranean-meets-Middle East cuisine. The cocktail bar is a nod to Spanish village cafes, with large bottles wrapped in woven straw contrasting with sophisticated mirrors, making everything shine.
The feeling that time is suspended continues at the La Capsule, a place of wellness and personal discovery within a striking white-and-gold palette. A la carte and immersion experiences are available, including infrared sauna sessions, massages, detox treatments, mind coaching sessions, and wellness drinks.
Brach Madrid is a member of the Evok Collection, a group of exceptional hotels that pride themselves on always going off the beaten path. Their aim is to offer a style of living for each style of luxury, creating hotels that become the beating heart of their neighborhood. Haussman-era, neo-industrial, or even 1930s buildings transform into places guests and locals live and linger by such notable designers as Philippe Starck, Jean-Louis Deniot, and Lecoadic & Scotto.
